Radio at AUT: an overview

  • Also referred to as communications - radio, reporting - radio, media studies.
The study of radio at AUT places equal emphasis on creativity and theory. We teach performance skills as well as radio station operations and management, and we enable students to gain the critical thinking and understanding required to place those skills within radio’s broader context. Radio covers a range of areas including:
  • Announcing
  • Writing and selling commercials
  • Writing features
  • Recording and producing items for broadcast
  • Researching and presenting documentaries
  • Compiling and presenting on-air news
  • Organisation and client promotions
