Our faculty is comprised of the School of Hospitality and Tourism, the School of Education, the School of Language and Culture and the School of Social Sciences and Public Policy, as well as three research institutes:

The National Centre for Refugee Education at Mangere is part of the School of Language and Culture.

Together we engage in cultural, economic and social research focused on improving the lives of individuals, families and communities, in a diverse range of areas, including:

  • Language and discourse
  • Culture, society and communities
  • Public and social policy
  • Education
  • Tourism, hospitality, and events
  • Migrant and refugee studies.

AUT Faculty of Culture and Society has strategic research alliances, across AUT, and with communities, other stakeholders and universities in New Zealand and overseas. Our researchers collaborate on projects nationally and internationally, and are committed to making a difference to teaching and learning for students.
