Increased teacher vacancies as more baby-boomers retire

New Zealand's ageing population means that many teachers will soon be retiring, opening up thousands of vacancies for new teachers in the coming 10-15 years, a NZ Herald article has found.

Undergraduate programmes provide students with a solid grounding in the study of education, career development and teaching. Graduates can continue onto further education and research, or move directly into the workforce as teachers at early childhood, primary, secondary or tertiary level.

Two 30-point career development papers are incorporated into the Postgraduate Certificate in Education. This postgraduate qualification is awarded upon completion of these 2 papers (60 points).
