Bachelor of Science (Honours) student
Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences in Analytics and Applied Mathematics
She has always been passionate about mathematics, says Biyuan Wang who completed a Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences last year and is currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Science (Honours).
“I love maths. For my future research, I would like to focus on mathematical modelling. Eventually I would like to do a PhD in mathematics, and I believe that completing the Bachelor of Science (Honours) will be a great experience for my future career.”
AUT’s reputation for being a student-focused university is a key reason she chose AUT, says Biyuan who came to AUT as an international student from China.
“What I love about AUT is that if you ever have trouble with your studies, your teachers will help you patiently.”
While there have been many highlights of her studies, the opportunity to share ideas with others is one of the highlights for Biyuan.
“I like that AUT students are encouraged to discuss academic problems in the tutorials. I enjoy being able to share my knowledge with others.”
Help if you need it
She would highly recommend AUT’s mathematical sciences programmes to others, Biyuan says.
“I would definitely recommend studying mathematical sciences at AUT. The lecturers are very supportive and responsive to students.”
There is always help available if you need it, she adds.
“If I ever feel that I need help with my research project, my supervisors – Professor Jiling Cao, the head of AUT’s mathematics department, and Dr Wenjun Zhang – always help me patiently.”
