Nobel Laureate Public Lecture

Join us on Wednesday 18 March 2015, 5.30pm for the opportunity to listen to and learn from Nobel Laureate Professor Robert Grubbs, one of the pioneers of green chemistry. Recipient of the 2005 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Professor Grubbs will be sharing his knowledge about catalysis and sustainable chemistry.

The Naked Scientist Live

On August 9th Cambridge University lecturer Dr Chris Smith (of The Naked Scientists fame), joined forces with Simon Morton, the host of Radio New Zealand’s This Way Up programme, to host a lively one-hour show on the current state of science and technology in New Zealand and beyond. The broadcast featured AUT’s Professor Steve Pointing who discussed the question of life on Mars.

Giant squid dissection

Marine Biologist and AUT lecturer Dr. Kat Bolstad led a team of postgraduate students and AUT University academics in the examination and dissection of three, rarely seen giant squid (Architeuthis dux) specimens, which were found in New Zealand waters.
